News, products, marketing and merchandising tips for the
front end of community pharmacies

Fun with a highlighter

The month of October, most merchandisers update their diabetes management department. This puts the store in good shape for Diabetes Awareness month, which is in November. Extended your preparedness by using signage and or colored shelf tags to feature sugar-free OTC items. Follow the suggestion from the International Diabetes Federation in using the color blue for signs and shelf tags. Click here to see a sample using the color green.

Bonus tip! Cross merchandise a few pairs of socks for those with diabetes in your diabetes management department.

We're here. We're safe. Get used to it.

If you can show people that your store will be one of the safest places to shop for the Christmas season, you have a huge advantage! Big box stores are between a rock and hard spot. Supersale prices will bring large crowds, and customers will need to make a decision, savings or safety. Videos of your store being cleaned, photos of staff wearing a mask draw attention to your widen isles, additional presence with social media will be a good start in attracting customers for the holiday season. Start delegating!

Balloons in my mailbox!

Hey Gabe, I took a lesson from a car dealer but instead of tieing ballons to a car, I tied them to a rollator! Both the rollator and the balloons were purple. The customer who bought the rollator asked if they could have the balloons as well! Check it out by clicking here. P.S. Join Acacia Flory and me at NCPA's Annual Convention for our CE presentation, DME: Your Next Front-end Superstar, October 9th at 11:30 am. See you there!

Only 3 months until Christmas

If you are heavily invested in gifts, particularly gifts with a Christmas theme, you will want to promote them on the web now! Start by featuring your ten most expensive gifts and offer free delivery with your prescription order. If the gifts are priced over $35.00, offer free wrapping. Each week feature ten different gifts. Repeat the ones that you may have overbought! It's not too soon to get this project going.

Get the most out of your trip to Charlotte

"The more you know, the more you grow." NCPA pre-convention programs are all about growing your business. Whether it is the Pharmacy Ownership Workshop, Long Term Care Workshop, Chronic Care Management with a behind-the-scenes tour, or any of the other pre-convention programs, they are worth much more than the investment of changing a flight ticket!
