Medisca: Hidden Heroes be the Change — A Virtual Event for our Future Compounding Pharmacists
Typically, every year around this time, Medisca would be hosting their annual Student Pharmacist Compounding Competition (SPCC), an event that is near and dear to their hearts. However, given current times with limitations on traveling and gatherings, they will not be able host the annual event. That being said, they've decided to harness the power of virtual platforms and still have a fun, engaging, educational event for our future pharmacists!
On March 19, from 3-6 p.m. ET during a FREE online event, hear from compounding pharmacists on how they used their intuitive innovation during a pandemic year to address shortages and provide personalized healthcare to those who needed it the most.
Over $5,000 in giveaways including a big prize to the college of pharmacy (in the United States and Canada) that has the most registrants.

NCPA Student Leadership Council application deadline is March 31
The NCPA Student Leadership Council exists to represent pharmacy student members of the association. Among its purposes are to promote the profession of pharmacy, promote the role of independent community pharmacy, and promote communication between NCPA Student Chapters and the NCPA Department of Student Affairs. The Student Leadership Council is a two-year commitment. Year one you will serve as a Junior Member, and year two you will be a Senior Member.
Each NCPA Student Chapter may nominate one chapter officer as a candidate for the SLC. If more than one student per school is interested, then the student chapter should hold an election to determine a single nominee. All nominees should attend either the NCPA Congressional Pharmacy Fly-In or the NCPA Annual Convention.
Applications for the 2021-2023 regional officers are open. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2021. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Independent Pharmacy Ownership Residency applications
The PGY1 Independent Pharmacy Ownership Residency (IPOR) program, developed in 2016, aims to prepare pharmacy graduates to be entrepreneurs and pharmacy owners in an evolving health care market by giving them the skills, confidence, and experience to create viable business models for community pharmacy in the future. We currently have residency sites in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.
Over the 12-month period, residents are partnered with experienced independent pharmacy owners and staff. They conduct quality improvement projects in each of the foundational areas of patient care, marketing, management, operations and finance, provide patient care services, develop a new or enhance an existing patient care service, complete a financial pharmacy certificate, attend the NCPA Pharmacy Ownership Workshop, participate in a Transformation Seminar series, and develop a business plan. Email Karleen T. Melody, Program Coordinator with any questions.
