News, products, marketing and merchandising tips for the
front end of community pharmacies

* TIPS from NCPA's Front-End Guru, Gabe Trahan *

Time for a Quick Inventory Check

Take a few minutes today and conduct a quick check of your seasonal products: sun protection, insect repellents, poison ivy/oak remedies, children's sunglasses, first aid creams/bandages, and depilatories. Do you have enough product for the rest of the season? Remember to order products for the entire summer, not just for the week.

Fourth of July Reminders

By now, you should have your Fourth of July store hours posted on your entrance door, pharmacy counters, registers, website, social media accounts, and voicemail. Keep your signs positive and be sure to remind any delivery customers ahead of time.

Six Summer Content Ideas for Your Store's Website and Social Media Accounts

  • Tips on preventing and treating sunburns (perhaps you can recommend a good Aloe product in your store)

  • Tips on identifying poison ivy/oak/sumac (include photos) and how to find relief if you come into contact with it

  • Tips on preventing and treating tick bites (Great resource: https://www.cdc.gov/ticks/index.html)

Boost Patient Interactions & Revenue with Independent Only Products

NCPA members have new access to a special membership discount on unique health care products available only through independent pharmacies. In a collaboration with Union Springs Healthcare (USH) announced last month, NCPA brings independent community pharmacy owners and staff the Companion Care Counseling® (CCC) Program developed by USH. CCC helps facilitate more productive pharmacist-patient interactions to address common health problems or side effects from existing prescription medications. This program and accompanying resources provided by USH have already been successful in hundreds of independent pharmacies at improving patient outcomes and growing pharmacy revenue. NCPA members can learn more about the program, the products, and claim their special member prices at www.ushcare.com/pharmacy-partner.
