News, products, marketing and merchandising tips for the
front end of community pharmacies

* Gabe's Tips: *

Private but not secret

Your OTC private label products have a higher than usual profit margin, however, the label cannot be easily found on the web. When it comes to marketing your private label to your customers, also refer to it as your 'Preferred Brand'. In the pain section, choose no less than five of your preferred brand items and highlight them with either a "compare to" sign or a sign that reads, "Our pharmacist recommends this cost-saving option." Business card size signs work great.

Can we take a selfie?

This October stop by the NCPA booth at NCPA 2019 Annual Convention. We can take a picture, talk about your store, and discuss what you are looking for at the tradeshow. Register by June 13th, to save a hundred bucks. See you there; I'll be the guy with goofy red shoes.

'Scuse me, do you have tick repellent?

Every day someone asks me where they can find tick repellent! Make a professional looking EASY TO READ sign, or better yet, buy a banner that says "We have tick repellent!" Place the banner near the road or on the front of the building - anywhere but the door! Doors need to remain clutter free. Also, consider purchasing 2" by 2" newspaper ads with the reversed type (white letters on a black background) stating your store name and "we have tick repellent." Place 2 ads per paper.

Note: Make sure you have sufficient inventory to support the ads and signage by ordering from the vendors on Front-End Marketplace.

Safe Travels

People of all ages will be ramping up their summer travel. Feature travel bath safety items on an end-cap such as quality suction grab bars, tub mats, folding shower chairs, toilet seat risers, and tub safety rails. Make sure to include signage with these suggestions: "Take safety with you on your travels" or "Comfort and safety for those visiting your home." Use this worksheet to make sure your end-cap has a 5-Star Rating.

Let the Grad Parties Commence!

To keep your Father's Day and Graduation card sections looking neat and full, double face any of the cards that you have at least four each of, two each in two adjacent pockets.

Note: High school graduations come later than most college graduations and for that reason make sure you have plenty of money gift greeting cards! Nothing says congratulations better than cash or a check.

Happy Father's Day!

You still have time to download the Father's Day worksheet.
