News, products, marketing and merchandising tips for the
front end of community pharmacies

Show Me the profits

Did you catch the episode of Show Me released on January 5th? If not, you can watch it here along with the first two episodes. This entertaining pharmacy reality series is all about showing pharmacy owners and staff like you how to improve vaccine services - one of the most profitable services you can offer in and out of your store.

Speaking of vaccines

There's still plenty of time for patients to receive their flu shot for this year along with a COVID-19 booster if they haven't already. Make sure you are marketing to patients with your in-store and outside signage and on your website and social media pages. Consider listing all the vaccines you offer on your website, too.

Tripledemic troubles

Be sure to keep your inventory of cough and cold supplies well stocked this winter as patients fight flu, COVID-19 and RSV. This includes everything from tissues, hand sanitizer, thermometers, throat lozenges, humidifiers, supplements and more. Want to get creative? Bundle together several of these items in a care package that customers can grab and go when they aren't feeling well.

When the weather outside is frightful

One could hope we've seen the worst winter weather of the season in late December, but that's wishful thinking. Don't get caught wishing you were prepared when the next bomb cyclone strikes. Instead, use this handy checklist to guarantee you'll be ready to keep patients healthy the next time the weather decides to muck up everyone's plans.

Goals v. Resolutions

We're one week into the new year. If you haven't done so already, take some time to figure out what your goals are for your pharmacy and front-end. And, yes, I said goals not resolutions. Resolutions are often broad, general statements reflecting some state of change and only 10% of people are successful in keeping them. Goals are more specific, actionable and give you a target for achievement. Think about what you want to accomplish this year – introduce new product lines, refresh your curbside appeal, add that patient counseling room you've been meaning to. Whatever it is, write it down and share with your staff so they can help you succeed and hold you accountable.
