Flu Season Inventory Reminders

It's time to start stocking up on cold and flu prevention and relief items. You should have at least two months' worth of lip balm, facial tissue, throat lozenges, thermometers, vitamin C, and prevention and relief products. Having only one of each item on the shelves increases labor costs and risks running out of essential items. Read the latest tip on preparing for the 2016-17 flu season and find merchandising and marketing ideas you can easily implement in your own pharmacy.

End-of-Summer Reminders

Have you and your staff completed the following?

Posted your Labor Day weekend store hours on your entrance door, pharmacy counter, website, and social media accounts.

Adjusted your employee schedule to prepare for a busy Friday, Sept. 2 and Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Checked deadlines for placing Labor Day weekend orders with your wholesaler and other vendors.

Ordered enough product to create a holiday weekend "Road Trip Needs" end-cap featuring products such as snacks, water bottles, pain relievers, bug sprays, sunscreen, and lip balm with SPF.

Hung up your flu shots banners and signs (no place to hang it? Tie it to your car.).

Looking for a New Niche? Help Young Readers

A community pharmacy in Vermont created a new, unique niche in its store with educational books for preschoolers and young readers. Consider offering something similar in your pharmacy with "School Zone," "A to Z," "Golden Books," and other popular series. Check out Gabe's Gallery for other merchandising ideas.
