New resource added on troubleshooting COVID-19 vaccine billing issues

In this short video, Lisa Schwartz, NCPA senior director of professional affairs, walks step-by-step through some commonly experienced COVID-19 vaccine billing issues and how to troubleshoot them. Topics include tips and tricks for billing Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial plans as well as a guide to billing the HRSA Uninsured Program. For more information, review the NCPA COVID-19 Vaccine Billing and Reimbursement guide.

Don't forget NCPA has developed a tool for pharmacies to report billing issues they may encounter with either medical benefit or prescription benefit claims. These reports will be monitored and aggregated to identify systematic issues being faced by pharmacies across the country as they serve their patients and communities.

NCPA joins ASCP and AMDA on letter to CMS on COVID-19 vaccine administration in LTC

NCPA joined a group of stakeholders in the Long-Term Care (LTC) community to send a letter to the acting administrator and deputy administrator of CMS to share expert input on future needs for vaccination efforts in LTC facilities. Recognizing the ongoing need to protect a vulnerable population of patients, the stakeholders are requesting guidance from CMS to continue to provide administration of COVID-19 vaccines to patients and visitors of facilities and offering suggestions on how to facilitate administration and proper, but less onerous, recordkeeping. Additionally, the stakeholders asked CMS to address reimbursement issues given the permanent investment in maintaining equipment and facilities to provide COVID-19 vaccines.

NCPA reports highlight successes on behalf of independently owned pharmacies

Recently, NCPA released the NCPA 2020 COVID-19 Report detailing the organization's extensive work over the last year to help independent pharmacists fight the coronavirus pandemic and adjust to the changes the public health emergency had on their small businesses. Earlier this year, NCPA also released its 2020 NCPA Advocacy Annual Report, a comprehensive review of its broader advocacy efforts, including work to change the pharmacy payment model and rein in pharmacy benefit managers through the Rutledge v. PCMA Supreme Court case and other pathways.
